I will be in my jammies at least until noon today. I am at home sick today- for the first time in about 3 years....
TMI Alert...
I ran the 5K Komen race for the cure yesterday in Chattanooga. It was hot, hot, hot. I may have gotten overheated, either that or I ate a bag bagel, because on the way home I started yacking..in the car...in a plastic bag. Poor Randy. I knew it was bad when he silently just rolled down the windows.
I had a massive headache with this as well...got home and it was everything I could do to just take a shower and go to bed. I got up at 7pm and Randy left to go get pizza and left Rody with me. I thought I was okay, but the miniute I got moving, I got sick again. This time Rody is crying in the living room floor while his mom is hunkered down over the toilet...so sad.
Feeling a little better today, but still a little unsettled.

Let the good times roll
Rody is 6 months old TODAY!
Cannot believe it y'all! I thought about going in his room at exatly 1:36 AM to reminisce, but who am I kidding, I was totally zonked ( I have a 6 month old you know).
Anyways, we may do a little "celebration" tonight at the park and I'll post more pics later.
But, for the sentimental folks out there, here is "little man" a couple hours old.

He's all smiles
Rody is almost 6 months old! Can't believe it...he is such a joyful baby! Randy and I were talking about 4 words that would describe Rody and these are what we came up with:
1) Observant
2) Joyful/Happy
3) Determined
4) laid back

Top 5 reasons not to train for my 5K race
Drum roll please....
1) The cool fall weather draws me to parks with Rody and Randy...swinging and sliding down slides, eating subway and fighting off the mosquitos....NOT to the greenway for a jog
2) Full time teaching, Full time mom, Full time wife = part time exerciser
3) I have to make up for lazy days when I was training constantly from the time I was 18-26
4) In the morning I feel quite a bit "lighter" (doesn't everybody), so I decide in my head that the running I do like 3 times a week must be working better than I thought, so I will take the day off
5) And the #1 reason...leaving for 30 minutes or see Rody smile and laugh for 30 minutes...you decide!

Fall weather
The weather has been so pleasant and fall-like that we decided to spend some time outside yesterday afternoon!
Sweet boy Rody had fun
Hanging out with mommy
Playing with daddy's face
Watching all the cars go by!
Just chilling out
Back inside today...Rody decided to get into his toy box
Daddy caught him in action...here go all the toys
I don't think anyone is looking, so I will pull them out
Oops...there's dad!
Looks like he caught me

Angel Food Ministries
WOW! For all you families on a budget out there, I found an incredible deal! Go to angelfoodministries.com and check this out:
They have a monthly menu- a bag of food enough to feed a family of 4 for 1 week. It would cost you $65 in a grocery store, but you can order it for $30! It is not "second hand" food or knock off brands- but high quality food! I just couldn't believe it. You don't have to apply or meet qualifications (like food stamps) in order to receive it. There are thousands of pick up places (mostly churches), so you can search your zip code and find out where you can pick it up.
Basically, you just order the bag (you can order more than 1 as well), choose any "extras you want"...for example, we ordered a meat package for $20.00 and a fruit/vegetable bag for $19.00, and then give them either a debit or credit card number. Then, the pickup date will be about 2 weeks later!
Today, September 14th, is the last day to order for September and the pick up this month is September 27th! You can order each month. I am super pumped about this and wanted to share it with the blogging world! At least check out the website...I think this is an incredible deal.
This is my first month of ordering, so I am excited to see how this will work out.
I already checked out following locations for people I know that read this blog!
Greenville, SC- lots of locations with a few in Travelers Rest- the baptist church and TR COG.
Braselton- Zion Baptist Church
Roxboro- Roxboro COG
Everybody check it out!
Oh, and there is a specialty package that comes with 5 prepared meals. We wanted that one, but it was sold out- I'll try that next month!

Does Mayfield need a spokesbaby??
I think I might send some of these pics to the Mayfield Dairy.
Either that or Chick-fil-A!
Rody and I went to a breastfeeding support group this morning. He definitely charmed! They told me what a great baby he was and that I was a blessed mommy..which I know I am! He woke up and feels better this morning-oh, I didn't tell you- he had his first little sniffle this week (yuk), but seems to be feeling better this morning!
Not too bad seeing as I was the one taking the pic!
Excited for a day of relaxing, hanging out, and watching some football!

A little update
Some days I don't even feel like I have time to breathe much less blog. Sorry to those of you that eagerly await my blog entries (LOL...)
Still doing the rice cereal thing- I am adding some organic fruits/vegies to it to give him some variety. He still seems a little uninterested, but is learning how to open his mouth for a spoon.
He's getting better at sitting up!
And, with sitting up comes some new views for him AND us...I saw some plumbers crack the other day and had to snap a pic...
He's sleeping so well! Definitely a 12 hour sleeper with 1, maybe 2 feeds during that time. Love it! He goes to bed around 9pm...I feed him around 6am...and then he goes back to sleep until 9:30 or 10am before he finally is up for the day...great for Randy!
oh yeah, he is sleeping on his stomach. We put him down on his back and almost immediately he turns over...go figure
Aunt Maggie came for one last visit and babysat while Randy and I went to the "best restaurant in Chattanooga". It was nice and pricey. It was good to get away. Funny thing- on our way home we stopped at Babies-R-Us (on a Saturday night). We saw other couples there without their children. It made me laugh. It must be the thing to do on dates- go to Babies-R-Us with your husband. I had to laugh at our creativity!
We'll miss you Maggie...see you in about a year! (Hopefully sooner!)

I don't mean to get "political"
I am becoming more politically aware with age...not that I didn't care before, but something about having a baby and realizing that he (Lord willing) will be around much longer than me makes me want this world to be the best place it can be.
I stayed up 1 hour past my bedtime last night to hear Sarah Palin make her speech. I was thrilled. She did a great job and I think was an excellent choice for McCain's VP. To be honest, I was not that fired up that McCain was the GOP's choice, but I will vote for him because of many reasons, one of which is that I don't like the other choice.
I was listening to the AM radio on Sunday evening while driving back from SC. Jill Stanek was being intervied. I have posted a link on my "friends with blogs" list...please check her out. She is an anti-abortion advocate and former nurse with an incredilbe story. She is uncovering Obama's lies about his views, etc. on abortion.
And I'm sorry...stances on abortion, marriage, and moral issues is my #1 reason why I vote. Marriage is the foundation of America. If it is compromised, then America will be compromised. We must keep it as God intended it. And don't get me started on abortion...It will be a glorious day when the Lord comes back and we meet him in the air and see the host of babies who never got the chance to live. One comforting thought is that heaven is all they will ever know. If only we were so lucky.
We must stand up, stand strong, and fight for our country.
I think I just completed my first "soap box" blog....

Should I be worried?

I think he's catching on....
We headed to Chick-fil-A for lunch today. You can go and wear a college football jersey or item and get some of their new chicken strips for free! So, we dressed him up (Randy and I too) and got 3 packs of strips for free...yummy!
You still have time if you want yours...they are doing it until close all day today (Monday). Rody was quite the charmer in that place. He tends to draw a crowd!
Then, we got home and I've been working around the apartment and struggling to get him to go to sleep. He is SO tired, but just fighting it. This was crib time #1...I put him in there and went to do some things. I heard some noises and saw this...
How funny! He pulled down the bumper and was looking down the hall right at me.
