We had a surprise snow day starting early this afternoon. My school called off the school day at 11:30am, so I was able to come home early....We enjoyed playing in the snow today!
Rody taking his first sledding ride down a little hill

Out of order picture...but here he is standing by his first poopoo in the toilet!

Building a snowman!

All bundled up!
Randy making a snow angel
Rody kissing the snowman

They are calling for it to continue snowing tonight and into tomorrow...so we'll see how much we get!

Random

I've had the best intentions of blogging lately, but it just hasn't happened yet. And this really isn't what I intended my next post to be...but here are blog posts in my mind that I have yet to really post...

1) Rody poo-pooed in the potty for the first time on his 22month birthday! He has been pee-peeing for a couple months now (nothing consistent), but we got a picture of his first poop with him standing by it and I will post that soon. He is probably ready for the all-out potty training, but to be honest, we're not yet! I figured with a new baby coming that we would just wait and maybe start sometime in March...
Oh, and his face is priceless anytime he pees just a little bit...I need to capture that on camera...then he shouts "em em" (for m&m)

2) I pulled some sort of muscle in my back earlier this week while playing Randy in ping pong. Yes, I know, smart move on my part. I'm wanting an epidural right now just to alleviate that pain. But, don't worry, I beat him 1 game out of 2.

3) I'm a big girl now because I signed up for my first ever Blockbuster card! Whoo hoo...and guess what...when it is your first time with a card in your name, then you get 30 days of free rentals...do you hear my people? 30 days..unlimited...wow...just in time for those hours of breastfeeding I will be doing. So far we've rented "My sister's keeper", "Transformers" ( I did not watch this one) and Madden 2010...you can guess who that is for. I have on my list to rent some TV series that I have not watched yet.. like the rent of Band of Brothers on my list and start 24 from the beginning...what a deal.

4) Rody's nightly routine. He is just precious. We give him a bath with bubbles...he loves it...then we give him some milk and read some books. He is getting choosey on his books lately and will just say "no" if I pull out a book he doesn't like. This week, he is hooked on "The three little bears" and a book my mom got him with real pictures of deer and animals. He loves to say "papa bear and mama bear" when I read the bears book...I get a kick out of watching his face. Then, we'll say prayers all together and I usually rock him for about 10 minutes. When I stop rocking him, he will say "rock, mama, jesus, please"...which means he wants me to keep rocking him and sing "Jesus loves me"....I can't really sing any other song these days without getting through it halfway before he says "jesus" which means he wants me to sing JLM again...and he is repeating it after me now- I need to get that on film as well

5) In his ever expanding vocabulary, some of Rody's word sounds a little vulgar. Not sure what to do about it...for example, "truck" sound like truck with an "F" in front of it...do I need to explain more? The other day, Randy took him to walmart and when they got out of the car, Rody starting shouting "truck, truck, truck" which sounded like you know what...and randy said all these older people started giving him looks, etc. And when randy tried to correct his speech, with emphasizing "no, rody, tttt truck"...then rody would say "ttt..truck (but still use the f sound for truck)...and if you know Rody, then you know the boy has some pipes. When he gets excited about something, he will let you know with the gradual rise of his voice volume until you repeat the word and acknowledge it. We are just hoping that his "truck" word didnt' come out in the church nursery on sunday... ha ha right. So, last night as we drove to blockbuster to pick out another free movie, when rody said "truck" we just said "yes, baby, that's a truck"...and we'll just hope that his t's start to sound like t's instead of f's....

Y'all have a good day.

38 W 2 D

Large and in charge!! My doc visit today was much of the same...3cm and 70% effaced. I asked him what my options were...we decided to induce me starting Sunday night at 10pm..so looks like we'll have baby girl on February 1st if not sooner!
Rody has been enjoying his bouncy seat...he says "bouncy bouncy" as he runs and sits in it, then runs around the room...
His daily dose of oatmeal. He eats at least 2 packets of oatmeal every morning--if not three--the kid can pound some food

Our attempt at the park the other day--it was really wet though, so we did not stay long!
so, we're just going to enjoy this last week as a family of 3!

Like waiting for water to boil

I'm chuckling to myself at the cleverness of my post title. You probably wouldn't find it funny. But since Randy and I had an in depth conversation this weekend on similies and metaphors, I had to bring some of my "old found" knowledge out---knowledge that I guess I forgot from high school, but Randy clearly remembered...

So, waiting for my body to go into labor is like waiting for water to boil. I saw Dr. C on Monday. I am now 3cm and still 60% effaced. He said I could go anyday or it still may be a while. That is the update. I have an appointment Monday--if I don't have the baby before then---

I've been feverishly getting maternity leave plans together for the lady who is covering my classes. We've met a few times at school as well. She will do a good job with the girls...

Happy Tuesday!

36 W 2 D appointment

Things are moving right along! I saw Dr. C today. I'm still feeling fairly well, but was a little "surprised" by his findings...He says I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. If I remember correctly, I was 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced with Rody when I was admitted into the hospital to be induced! Dr. C thinks that I will have a baby within 2 weeks...CRAZY! I've had a feeling this whole pregnancy that I would be about a week early with this one. My dute date might be off, I'm not sure, but that was always my feeling....

So, I called Randy and it put us into "get things done" mode...We took out a big dresser in our bedroom so we could move some furniture around and make a little corner for baby girl...we will just have a bassinett and rocker in our bedroom for the time being. I'm not sure what we'll do when she is about 2 months old and I am ready for her to be in her own room!

Needless to say, I'm trying to get things in order from my work side of life to my personal side of life :)

Happy Tuesday

Evans family

We decided at the last minute to stop by my parent's condo in Cashiers, NC on our way home since my sister and her family were there for the New Year (Cashiers is only about 1 hour from where Randy's parents live)...
We had a fun time! It was FREEZING and we decided to spend the night--which was interesting since we did not have a pack-n-play for Rody--he slept in a closet on the floor...but he did good!
Here are all the cousins...

Molly and Jason making us food...

We attempted to go on a walk...it did not last long..Rody was all bundled up and fell asleep in 5 minutes...that really was the goal--to get him to take a nap...

The oldest and the youngest of my parent's grandchildren....

It was a fun time and we are so glad we made the "sacrifice"..ha ha...

New Years in South Carolina

We had some fun with our new camera and had a nice time in South Carolina. A lot of our time consisted of going and visiting Randy's older relatives in different places, taking pictures of graves, and missing a lot of naps :) (Randy is getting into his ancestory stuff pretty heavily now)...
Rody loved playing with daisy the dog...and loved watching precious the dog from afar (she is not good with kids...)
Grandpa keeping Rody entertained with bubbles...

Visiting Randy's papa's sister--she has done a lot of ancestory research on his mom's side of the family....
View in the country from the Barnett's home...I took long walks almost everyday through cow pastures...it was very peaceful!
Randy playing with fire....

The Blue Moon...our camera has a rocking zoom on it...
Rody got a tricycle for Christmas from Randy's parents...he loved it and would put his play "pow pow" in the trunk of the tricycle...he is learning to conceal a weapon at an early age...
Me, Stephanie, and Danielle (cousin) all pregnant...and all 4 weeks apart...I am due Feb. 6th, Stephanie is due March 6th, and Danielle is due the beginning of April...and we're all having girls!

Our sweet boy!

35 weeks 2 Days

I had my 35 w 2 d appointment today and everything went well. Randy and Rody came with me to the doctor since I had the day off. We first got an ultrasound and realized our prayers had been answered! Baby girl is head down...as Rody would say, "Allelujah!"....her head is nice and snug in my pelvis and I'm praying it will stay that way...
We actually got to see somewhat of a profile view...the tech commented on her chubby cheeks and said she has a lot of hair! I had dark hair when I was born, but it all fell out in the first 2 months and then grew back blonde...maybe baby girl will be the same way! Rody had hardly any hair when he was born...just very light blonde hair, but you couldn't really tell. She is also measuring at 6lbs. 15 ounces and is measuring at 37 weeks...as Dr. Childs says, " I grow 'em big"...ha ha....
I'm at weekly appointments now and he is checking to see if I am dilated now as well...

I start back to work tomorrow which will make these last 4 weeks go by quickly I'm sure....

Rody doesn't seem to be feeling well today. He feels like he has a fever and is sleeping a TON! He fell asleep on Randy at the doctor today and fell asleep on me before I gave him a bath tonight...you know he is not feeling well when he does that. He also hardly ate anything today :( We are praying that the Lord would touch him and that this is nothing serious...

We are slowing unpacking, doing laundry, etc since getting home last night from a 12 night road trip! It was fun, but I was so glad to be back in my own bed...it was lovely to sleep 12 hours last night--I hadn't slept well at all while we traveled.
