We've got a big boy!

Rody had his 2 month check up yesterday. Randy and I were both interested to see what he is weighing these days...and we were both underestimating the weight of baby fat! He is a hefty 13 lbs. 10 oz. at 9 weeks old! and he is 24 inches long. WOW! He is getting so big.

So, I was curious and asked the doctor if it is possible that I could be overfeeding him (didn't know if that could happen when breastfeeding). He looked at me and was like "uh, yeah, does he spit up a lot?" My response; "Um, yeah, he does". OOPS... He said most babies his age eat around 3 oz. at a meal and Rody is averaging like 5-7 oz. a meal. I mean I think he would just get enough with 3 oz. to make him mad--no way that boy would be satisfied.

Rody got some shots yesterday- which was horrible- I hate seeing our baby in pain. It is pitiful and I would do anything to make the pain my own and not his ( I totally understand this now as a parent). Needless to say he was quite fussy and tired last night. I must have been dreaming hard because all my dreams were of Rody spitting up a ton because I was over feeding him and him getting hurt (probably because of the shots, etc).

I cried when I left him and Randy this morning...it was so hard. Keep praying that the Lord would provide a way for me to just be a mommy for a few years!

We will post some pics in the next couple of days!

Precious things

Sometimes when I am feeding Rody I will look down and his feet will be crossed like this. It is like he is totally relaxing and having a cold glass of lemonade on the beach...it is so sweet and makes me smile...

Bath time. He is getting too big for the sink. We will have to move to the big tub soon, but there is something so sweet about giving your baby a bath. Rody loves baths.
Cuddle time after the bath. We wrap him in a towel and hug him close to warm him up. He smells so good and clean.

Take time out to enjoy all the precious moments and little things in your life!

Crazy Week

It has been a crazy week. I (Katie) had to go back to work for the last week of school and Randy has been proofing his paper and taking care of Rody! So, here is a list of what has been going on this week and new things about Rody!
  • Katie's been a working mom this week and really wants to find a way to stay at home and raise children! Be praying...
  • Randy is quite the stay at home dad! He has enjoyed this time with Rody!
  • Grandma Kia came for a visit Tuesday- Thursday. It was great to have her here!
  • Randy brought Rody to see me on Monday and Tuesday. Grandma Kia brough Rody to see me on Wednesday during the day
  • Rody rolled over again! And Grandma got to see it this time...he's a genius! LOL
  • Rody is eating consistantly 6 oz at a feeding...we know this because I am having to pump some and he takes a bottle when I am at work....he is growing so quickly!
  • Rody is communicating! He loves to make oohs and ahhs with his voice, is starting to giggle, have happy screams, and smile a TON! It melts your heart everytime he does it!

Randy will graduate next Saturday, May 31st! We will post some updated pictures and a really great video of Rody talking to Grandma Kia soon!

Veryll took pictures again!

I just had to share some photos that our friend Veryll took of Rody. They are priceless~
The following photos were taken when Rody was 1.5 weeks old

The following pictures were taken when Rody was 5 weeks old! He changes so quickly.

What a sweet face!

My mom painted this sign for Rody. It hangs in his room. Thanks, mom!

I love this face!
Such a sweet smile!
This bib is a little big now--looks like a t-shirt on him!
Just starting to smile!
This is the "I'm so serious" face. We were beginning to lose him to sleepy land at this point

Enjoy!

Thank you so much, Veryll, for taking these pictures!

Blogging for a living!

So, I was watching some morning news show last week and they were profiling women who stay home and blog for a living...seriously. So, I was intrigued because, as you can see, I love to blog and I also would love to stay at home with our children (well, child right now).
Anyways, there were a whole bunch of ladies attending a bloggers conference ( I know, but it is for real) and the basic premise is that these women just blog about everyday life--and lots of people read about it. Once companies who have something to advertise take notice, then they contact the blogger and want to advertise on their blog site!
cha ching!
So, I need like thousands of people to start reading my blog and we can be all set. What do you think? Will you be one of my readers to help me stay at home and blog all day? Okay, okay, that is not all I will do- I guess I'll make dinner each night as well! :)
It is early this morning..7am which is early for Rody and I- I have 4 more days till I go back to work for 2 weeks on Monday. I want to enjoy each moment! I put him in a new outfit today- a 3 month old outfit -and I love it!

Don't you think "red becomes him?"

And eventhough you always see pictures of him sitting in his boppy, I promise you that is not what he does all day! We hold him so much, but not too much, and he loves tummy time...
Actually, last night on his tummy he rolled over 3 times from belly to back! We were so excited and even got one of the rolls on film..he was 7 weeks old yesterday.
Have a great day all you blog readers!

Pure Exhaustion

Okay, so most of you reading this know that Randy has worked consistently on his senior thesis paper for a couple months now. It definitely got down to the wire this week. It has been super stressful for all of us and overwhelming at the same time. Here is a picture of complete exhuastion.
I can't help but think of "you might be exhausted if"....and this picture says it all.
You might be exhausted if you use a nursing pillow as a pillow and curl up under a baby's toy.
(FYI- this is Randy after getting only about 4 hours of sleep in the last 30 or so hours)

And here's Rody just chilling in his boppy as daddy sleeps and Katie prints out...YES...the paper!
Well, it is the 1st draft really, but it is basically all done. Only some minor changes will be made between today and Monday, but praise the Lord it looks like Randy will be all set to graduate with his Master of Divinity!!!

I woke Randy up by placing the 5 pound book on his chest! It doesn't really weigh that much, but it is 147 pages...can't believe it. I am so proud of him though. I've read it all and it is seriously the best paper I've read of his and I was captived throughout all of it. It drew me closer to the Lord as I was reading it...I believe that is the mark of a great paper!

I hope Randy realizes there is some questionable baby bodily fluid on that pillow...oops. I won't tell him if you don't!

This is my fabulous day

I look and find not 1, but MANY gray hairs! I'm not even 30, but I guess pregnancy did it to me! I tried to take a pic of them, but obviously they do noy show up on camera. But believe me, they are there!

I dressed my baby in 3 cute outfits today! The first one lasted seriously 15 seconds--threw up on the changing table! Outfit #2 got seepy poop on it! This is #3 and its lasted a few hours!

So squeezably cute!

another video with giggles and smiles!

Deadlines

This is what our life has been like the last few days. Randy pulling all nighters and all dayers (is that word?). If he looks rough in this picture that is because he feels rough. Poor guy

Here is Katie worrying about the deadline. Actually, Randy is more stressed than Katie, but she has joined the fight this morning by proofing and formatting.
And thank goodness little Rody likes to sleep. Keep sleeping little man because somebody in this house needs to!

Soothies and Bumbos

Are GREAT inventions! A soothie is not like a normal paci- it is shaped a little differently and Rody loves it. Looks good, huh? :)

And although he is not quite ready for the bumbo on his own, I know it will be a lifesaver when he gets to it! We are hoping he'll be ready for it when we go to the beach in June!

His little personality is starting to shine. Right now Rody is so much fun, but has times when a stuborn side of him comes through. It is actually funny to observe. He'll straighten out his legs and won't let you bend them for anything. He is so strong...but between both of his parent's genetic makeup, would you guess any differently?
And yes, his hair is still falling out. I was rocking and feeding him last night when Randy shot this pick. We kinda think he looks like Frank from "Everybody loves Raymond". What do you think? Funny story...after this I look at my hand and smell it and say "what's this?" Then I look down and see some brown stains on my shirt. Randy has this look on his face that is priceless, takes Rody from me, and we assess the damage. Major poop control going on after this photo! All over mommy, boppy, and Rody...fun times.

And I just LOVE his little legs. Ooh, I could just eat them up! And his "no show" socks that Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Ford bought him make him like one of the coolest on the block!
Rody loves tummy time for small amounts of time. He almost rolls over to his side and holds his head up for 30-45 second increments. It is going by so quickly.

To all the mom's out there- Happy Mother's Day! I am blessed to be a mother and now realize just how much my mom loves me..which makes me want to cry when I think about it. I love you mom!
